Hi! My name is Sofia, I am 24 years old and I am a graduated conference interpreter first at the University of Trieste (Bachelor's Degree) and later from the University of Vienna (Master's Degree) with a combination of German, English and Italian (active and passive). Although my studies trained me for booth assignments, I was lucky to train as an interpreter for the community field as well, working with a world made up of hospitals, emergency rooms, intensive care, physical therapy, psychiatry, and more. For the past two years, I have also been working every summer as a medical interpreter and translator for children and youth with the S.O.S. Feriendorf in Caldonazzo, whose guests come from orphanages and foster families all over Europe. I cannot quantify how enriching these experiences are for me, but seeing myself being able to handle the tasks even in such challenging and delicate situations inspires me to keep working in this field, as well. Both the conferences and the community field taught me values that are indispensable to me in both life and work: listening, stress management, flexibility, problem solving and curiosity.
